Okaley Dokaley So this weekend provded to be as expected with Snow White takeing the numero uno spot. Yeah opened rather softly with a mildly 54 million. Sheesh, really check it out, the last 5 big movies that were realeased, aside from Avengers.
Ok well another battle this week is about to go into Space. Prometheus sees if can keep up with Madagascar and its lovely aray of crazy animals. Im hopeing for big things for Prometheus, but we'll see.

Charlize Theron on another weekend. Except this time I may actually watch the movie. I didn't put it on my list only because I thought it might be to much of a geek movie, that it may not appeal to the regular movie goer. I should have watched the trailer before I made that final decision.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping Snow White would be a basic crowd pleaser. As in: not a great movie but enough good moments to kinda enjoy it.
Again, for Intouchables, I am banking on their past success over sees. I saw the trailer and it just looked amazing. Here's hoping for another Slum Dog Millionaire.
These feel like Bum picks also....Not too happy with my picks so far. GI Joe really upsets me. Even if the movie didn't score so high I think the star power it was bringing would offset ****Spoiler*** the potential death of *****Spoiler****. What are they going to do rewrite the movie? Anyway MIB3 is not a bad pick don't you think? At #6...not too high not too low. It's a Will Smith Movie and from what I've heard from those that have seen it, is that it's a good movie. It's not overdone. Not sure what that means for a cartoony MIB movie. What MIB movie was better. 1 or 2? I like Agent J's character more in 1...but the evil lady was waaay hotter in 2. Tough Call.....that being said I do like evolution of characters in movies...that is why I think God Father is better than Scar Face...and it's a toss up between GF1 and 2. Even though I think 1 is slightly higher on my list cuz of the evolution of Al Pacino and the Sunny Leon's character. Amazing....Deniro in part 2 was special. Don't get me wrong. Scar face was awesome and very good, but it just doesn't hold up to God Father for me.
ReplyDeleteWhatever...I should get a mulligan for GI Joe but I won't bother
Mulligan. . its all GIJ fault. but thats the name of te game, you dont know what is going to happen in th summer.
DeleteMIB2 def better then 2, but as for the chick yeah that was one of the pluses. MIB3 good evolution and more deeper character profile. liked it better then 2 almost as good as 1 or prob same.
quick thoughts on everyone's picks
ReplyDeleteTony- MIB 3 (good pick but in hindsight a little high)
Kiks- GI Joe Ret (Not a bad pick either way at 6 or 5...star power plus sequel =s $$$ Hollywood screwed us)
K-Mouse- Madagascar 3 (I mean I'm not going to totally bomb on you for picking a cartoon sequel in the top 10 but I have my $$ on Ice Age)
Manny C- Dark Shadows (This movie might not cross $100 mill is that enough for top 10. I said my piece last week but JDEP and TBURT jsut don't draw big)
Moca- Snow White and the Huntsman (good pick)
Jess- Snow White and hor (good pick)
Betty- GI Joe Ret (good pick)
Eli- Battleship (Hahahaha..hahaha...hahaha...Battleship is this year's Green Lantern. That being said I saw Green Lantern on DVD and prob will do same for Battleship)
Marci- Amazing Spiderman (Good pick, I think was think middle of pick also. But I want to say I slotted him higher)
Rosey- Bourne Legacy (uuuu.....semi reboot...not sure it ever drew large $$ in the first place. Too high woulda gone maybe low in the tens if you had to use this movie)
Rene- Prometheus (Uuuuu....last week I had a different opionion. I keep getting this feel that this movie is gaining traction. But will a large enough audience want to see an Alien Type Sci Fi Movie. That's kinda what it's selling as. There is spoilerish vibe of that it is an Alien's prequel but it's not but it is, but its not. I don't see this movie jumping this high. Might have a strong opening but fizzle. Will be interesting to C)
Edgar- MIB 3 (good pick)
Prometheus Go see this
DeleteDark Shadows hopeing to get the Alice in Wonderland tail coats.
Numero 5
ReplyDeleteTony- GI Joe (screwed by Hollywood)
Kiks- Amazing Spiderman (Good pick...Spidey reboot...Xmen didn't farewell...but I kind of expect more from this movie....fresher characters...more "known?" will some audience be drawn away from it being a "younger" spidey
K-Mouse- MIB 3 (Good pick...kinda high the more it plays out)
Manny C- Ice Age 3 (Again not gonna crush a cartoon in the top 10. Just not sure it's going to crush at the Box office with Madagascar and my favorite dark horse Brave coming up...is it automatic disqualifier if you got the wrong movie on here?)
Mocs- Intouchables (SLumdog wasn't a summer box office hero....quick look it came out in November and built traction over like a month or two....If Intouchables turns out to do great when will it happen? September? Swing and miss here)
Jess- MIB 3 (Good pick, 5-10 years ago you put Will Smith in top 5 hands down. You'd put his crappy golf movie in the top 5 with Matt Damon. But he's been outta the game for a while. MIB felt like a reboot of sorts. I wasn't going to go top 5)
Betty- The Avengers (Uuuuu...no faith in the avengers...technically it hasn't won the top spot but really???)
Eli- GI Joe (Good pick)
Marci- The Dark Knight Rises (Wow...wow...I mean I know for the most part if you have it in the top 10 well ure getting points...but this year was pretty much settled when these movies were announced for production weren't they? DK3 and Avengers shoulda had more love)
Rosey- Brave (Ah I like this pick....just feels weird keeping Pixar outta the top 3)
Rene- Brave (Good pick)
Edgar- Dark Shadows (Wow...Avengers and DK3 in at 5 and so is JDepp...in all seriousness...what's been JDepp last good movie? like real good movie where he blew you away? My favorite is OUATIMexico...Willy wonka he was ok...Great in the First Pirates..and then well it kept being same ol same ol.....great cameo in 21JS...Never saw his movie with AJ...I Just don't get the love....I dunno maybe it'll be a cult hit)
Intouchables looks good. but that is why i picked as my Sleeper hit, but didnt put it in my top 10.
Delete#6: GI Joe: SMH Aren't they going to release it later on like in 2013? I though I heard that but again, I've been out a week so I may have my fact mixed up. If so, then there goes my #6...
ReplyDelete#5: I ♥ Spidey!! Since I was a kid. I had the velcro shoes and piƱata too! :) BUT aside from my alliance to the man in the spider suit, I love the new people playing the characters, especially Emma Stone. I'm hoping the story matches the great match-up of actors.
Scarface is better than the Godfather?! I never knew this was a legitimate debate. I don't think Godfather is better, I know it is Tony Montana. Scarface is by all means just a cult classic, while The Godfather is a plain classic. Hell, Godfather III is better than Scarface! Scarface became what it is because of the urban culture. That and coupled with the fact the Pacino was in fact great in it. Prometheus for my number 6 pick might be a little ambitious but the hype was definitely there. Unfortunately, I don't think it will ultimately live up to what Ridley Scott could have made it out to be. Brave well...it's Pixar for crying out loud.
